Swimming to the Light

My family was water oriented, living on the Atlantic coast of Florida. We learned to swim very young and snorkling and tank diving came soon after that. We didn’t have much as far as money, a big house, or fancy things, but we were privledged to experience the underwater side of Florida and Caribean waters, something only a small fraction of other kids ever did.

Being underwater, often lingering on a reef, i can remember looking up and seeing the sun reflecting through the shimmers. Occasionally, a school of tiny fish would entertain us as they swam in circles, making themselves look like a large preditor, to keep other fish away from devouring them. That memory inspired this painting and I added a tiny bit of abstraction.

The room mock up does not show the art to true size.
