Seeing Both Sides

This split view of the beach shallows was inspired by a video I watched of the waves forming at the point where the seafloor depth drops. The seafoam is pulled back out as the wave gathers strength.

I grew up on the Atlantic coast of Florida and beaches from Jacksonville to Key West and the Caribbean were familiar to me. Wearing a mask to see both under and over water was a favorite part of the experience. I’ve captured that in a few of my paintings now and always find it fascinating. I especially like the geometry of this piece.

The room mock up does not show the painting true to size. Original and prints are available by contacting me.
