Pristine Florida

I’ve long wanted to try my hand at this style. My reference was an original painted in the 1950s by a Florida Highwayman, one of 26 black men who were taught to paint and mentored by A.E. Backus in Fort Pierce. At that time they weren’t allowed to enter or have paintings in the white only galleries, so they took their paintings to the highways to sell on the sides of the roads to individual buyers and buyers from businesses and motels. Sale prices then ranged from $15 to $25 generally. Now the paintings are worth many thousands and collectors from all over the world want them.

This painting is not for sale but custom orders for similar paintings with this color palette and pristine Florida scenes subject matter are accepted. This one is too much like the original to sell without copyright infringement. Your painting will be my completely original composition with the same look and feel. Price will depend on the size you request.

The room is a mock up and does not show original art true to size. Frame will not be included.
